The Brief

The brief i have been given includes two tasks,  the preliminary and the main task. The preliminary task is a continuity exercise, where using methods we've learnt for filming, our group films someone walking about through doors, sitting down and saying about two lines to someone else, testing our continuity skills.

The main task is to, in our groups, create an opening sequence to a thriller, with each member of the group having an individual role, including director, camera man, actors etc.

Lesson 2: How to make a sequence film

In our media lesson we watched an amature film and learnt about all the techniques and , methods and terms that needed to be used in an opening sequence.
terms including;

  • Mise en scene
  • Match on action
  • Shot/reverse shot
  • 180  degrees rule
we learnt how to accomplish these terms and methods and how to use them in a shot, for example the 180 degrees rule is s a basic guideline regarding the on-screen spatial relationship between a character and another character or object within a scene.

For my first couple of lessons as an introduction we learnt about the equipment wewill be using, to film an opening sequence to a thriller movie. We also learnt about setting up tripods and the way to mount a camera on them appropriately and how to use them in filming techniques and angles.

this is a tripod we practiced setting up and mounting a camera on.
